Understanding Diamond Cut

A diamond's cut affects its brilliance, sparkle, and light performance. The precision of the cut determines how light enters and exits the diamond, creating the fire and scintillation that makes diamonds so captivating.

GIA grades cut from Excellent to Poor, with Excellent returning the most light and Poor resulting in a dull appearance.

A Poor Diamond Cut loses most of its light through the pavilion, resulting in a dull and lifeless look. It lacks the brilliance and fire that make diamonds captivating. At Fine Diamond, we do not carry poorly cut diamonds.

Understanding Diamond Carat Size

Carat is the standard unit for measuring a diamond’s weight, with one carat equal to 200 milligrams, roughly the weight of a paperclip. While carat indicates weight, it doesn’t always reflect perceived size; two diamonds of the same carat can look different depending on their shape and cut. A skillfully cut diamond maximizes both surface area and brilliance, often appearing larger than a heavier, poorly cut stone.

Understanding Diamond Color

Diamond color is graded on a scale from D to Z, with D being completely colorless and Z showing noticeable warmth or tint. We exclusively offer D, E, and F diamonds, the top-tier, colorless range, ensuring maximum brilliance and sparkle. While lower color grades exist, diamonds in the DEF range deliver the purest clarity and the most stunning visual impact, making them the ideal choice for a lasting investment in beauty and quality.

GIA grades color from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown), with D–F diamonds being completely colorless and delivering the brightest, most brilliant appearance.

Understanding Diamond Clarity

Diamond clarity refers to the presence of internal or external imperfections, known as inclusions and blemishes. Clarity is graded by the GIA from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3), with higher grades indicating fewer and less visible imperfections. We exclusively offer diamonds with IF, VVS1, VVS2, and VS1 grades—the top-tier range that ensures exceptional purity and brilliance. While lower clarity grades exist, diamonds in our range offer minimal inclusions that are virtually invisible to the naked eye, delivering the most stunning sparkle and long-lasting value.
